Conic Sections and Solar Systems

The objective of this webquest is to have students understand how conic sections model the orbits and paths of objects within a solar system. They will pretend that they have discovered another solar system and they have to present it to fellow scientists. They must have mathematical support to justify why their solar system works with respect to scientific laws and theories. Students will practice specific vocabulary such as "light years", "comets", "asteroids", etc...
